Morning Coffee on the Porch in the Sunshine
Take time for yourselves to explore the River, Nature Trails,
(Kayaking, Restaurants, Boat Tours, Fishing, Farm Gate Tours,
Shopping, Antiquing, Museums, Golf…) or whatever the 1000
Islands calls you to do. Islandview's romantic features and natural setting are a catalyst for love. Honeymooners and lovers have time to rest and be alone together.
If a proposal is in the air, Diana will pull strings to ensure
the perfect privacy, the perfect romantic dinner, and the
perfect spot to pop the question. Diana welcomes both you and your friends coming to this area as wedding guests. She would be willing to act as host for special wedding events, and photos in her impressive gardens. Every angle in the garden at Island View is a photo opportunity. Use Island View is a friendly ‘home base’.
"Flushing Meadows" in June
Charlotte and Barbara came in as grannies coming to a family
wedding. They came from different sides, but became close
friends. We treated them like our own, and looked after them in
their spare time. They were a pleasure to be with. In order to help you with diet and nutrition issues, I am happy to prepare you the foods you need to be comfortable and confident during your (much needed) holiday. I have learned a great deal about various diets. We are all familiar with vegetarian, low fat, and low sugar diets. Alkaline diet, Nightshade free diet, Gluten free diet, Specific Carbohydrate diet, and the Candia diet have become familiar territory for me. I enjoy using my creativity to find ways to please the palate.
Ideas for the Extras
Ballroom dance lessons? Diana’s showroom can transform
itself into a dance floor that can take up to 3 couples. Brenda
Myers of “Shall We Dance” will come in and give private,
beginners lessons, in this intimate space.
Dave Williams recently retired from his Marina business in Ivy Lea. Dave is an old river rat. His father and grandfather were caretakers on a large island estate in the 1000 Islands. Growing up on the island, Dave knows every nook, cranny and story about our river. Dave Williams will take you out in his personal boat right into the heart of the islands for a tour. Bring a picnic lunch and he will stop at one of Canada's National Park Islands. Dave knows the area like the back of his hand. This is a great opportunity for photographers, birders, and anyone who wants to spend quality time in the islands without the hassle of being on a large tour boat - this is a great opportunity. The boat holds 8 persons and guided tours are $120.00 per 1 1/2 hour and $240.00 for 3 hours. Wouldn't that make a great party?
Do you like architecture? How about a walking tour of
beautiful downtown and eastern King Street in Brockville, with
lunch at our local family run bakery? Meet the friendly folks
who live in Brockville.
There are many great antique shops within a close radius of
Island View. Diana has descriptions, maps and directions to the
antique shops in the area.
A Visit with Bear the keeper of Myths will be certainly memorable Maybe some great golf grabs your interest. There are lots of amazing challenging golf courses in the area. Diana has a good friend, Doug Amos who is a fabulous fishing guide who supplies everything. Just bring yourselves. He is up to take on rookie fishermen, or impress the experienced anglers. (Yeah, he’d put the worms on the hooks, if you asked him to.
Small Mouth Bass
Take off to the back roads for a super day driving trip. Diana
will help you plan a route. Explore Jones Falls, Merrickville,
Lyndhurst Turkey Fair, Athens Cornfest…
Is gardening your thing? Island View has its own impressive garden set on the rim of a cliff overlooking the St. Lawrence River. There are some wonderful garden centres to visit within a short drive of the B&B. folks, instruction
Both snow-shoeing and cross country skiing in the off season are wonderful, just two minutes from Island View’s doorstep.
There’s more… “a mind once stretched by a new idea never regains its original dimension!” If you are interested in a get-away package from the city and be willing to come with a number of your friends, please mention it to Diana and she will talk to you about what there is to see and do at that particular time of the year.
